map rolled out for measurement and documentationMy role in the project began where the initial survey ended. In addition to noting basic collection information, I measured each item, assessed its condition, and determined whether it could be re-housed or if it had to remain on a roll. Because larger drawers were available, it was possible for me to remove many more items for flattening. As I continued in the survey, it became necessary to split items out into individual lines, which increased our “total” apparent item count from around 150 to nearly 400.
